How Brenda Heulitt Agency Began
What inspired you to start this business, and how did it come to life here in New Braunfels?
New Braunfels has been home now for 24 years - and I love this community, even with all the growth. I opened my own brokerage almost seven years ago to be sure I was truly working for my clients with options that were best for them rather than just having to cut coverages if the premiums increased too much. Through the really tough chapter that insurance just endured, we were constantly pivoting to bring on new carriers and find savings without compromising coverage. By having access to tons of carriers, we are able to truly provide the proper protection for our clients. Getting to help educate people on the risks and options feels like an important way to give back a little in every interaction because we are dealing with such an important topic.

What do you love most about serving this community?
The New Braunfels community has my heart on so many levels. The people, the relationships I'm blessed to have, the culture, the live music, the beautiful areas we are so privileged to enjoy daily. I love getting to meet new people as they are moving to the area and sharing some of the special details and events that make this place so special. I also love that I get to help so many people whose roots run really deep here and they always have great stories with new insights I hadn't realized. So, I guess, it's the relationships that I love most - I have been so blessed to form many wonderful ones with clients who are now friends just by offering honest guidance.
Behind the Scenes of a Small Business
What’s something most people don’t see or know about running your business day-to-day?
What most people don't see is how much of our day is spent advocating for clients behind the scenes. We're on the phone with carriers, reviewing policy language line by line, and solving problems long before a client ever knows there was an issue. A lot of our work happens quietly - but it's done with the sole purpose of protecting someone when they need it most. People don't realize it's very personal on our side. We talk to clients on some of the hardest days of their lives - after accidents, losses, or unexpected events. Behind the scenes, we carry those conversations with us, and they fuel how seriously we take our responsibility to protect people. We're balancing compliance, carrier changes, and client needs every single day, all while making sure people feel heard and supported.

Education and integrity. We strive to show you the full picture and put you in a place to make the best decision that brings you peace. We live right here in the community and I never want to have to hide from someone in HEB! We try to do the right thing, the right way, for the right reasons. Always.
