How to Choose a Senior Photographer in New Braunfels

The best senior photographer for you is the one whose work already looks like the person in it. Not the one with the most followers or the lowest price. If you're choosing a senior photographer in New Braunfels, start by looking at whether the people in the photos look like themselves.

What actually makes senior photos look like you?

It’s not just the location, or the number of outfits.

It's whether the photographer is paying attention to who you are during the planning and the actual session, not just running you through a set list of poses that work for anyone.

If everyone in a photographer's portfolio looks the same, that's usually a sign the sessions themselves were too.

You want someone who's going to notice the specific things about you that make you, you.

That’s what makes the photos meaningful, not trying to fit you into a template just like everyone else.

Why price and location shouldn't be the first thing you ask about

Most senior photographer searches start with logistics, like what does it cost, where is the photoshoot going to take place, how long does it take.

Those questions matter, but they're not actually the ones that determine whether you like your photos a year from now.

The question that matters more: does this photographer help me plan a session that tells the story of who I am right now. And are they going to take care of the details in order to make the entire process a positive experience.

That's worth paying attention to before you get to pricing at all.

What a real planning conversation looks like

Before your session, I want to know what you actually care about.

What you're into, where you feel like yourself, whether you want something quiet or something with more energy.

That conversation is what keeps a session from turning into a generic template with your face on it.

It's also usually where you can tell whether a photographer's actually listening or just booking another slot on the calendar.

Let’s Start Planning Your Senior Session

If you're a senior, or a parent of one, and want to talk through what a session with me would actually look like, get in touch or book a session.

You can see the full range of what I photograph in my Guide to Portrait Photography in New Braunfels and San Antonio.

I photograph college seniors too. Here's a look at Texas State University graduation portraits from a session done on the campus.
